AstraLoc Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AstraLoc, a SpokyWorks application (package name com.astraloc.app), accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the AstraLoc Android application or contact SpokyWorks about AstraLoc.
1. Information AstraLoc accesses and how it is used
Location information
AstraLoc may request foreground/while-in-use location permission. Location is used to provide user-requested features such as calculating True North, altitude, Qibla direction, your current origin, bearings and distances to fixed or saved destinations, and related location-based utility functions.
The current R1 release does not request background-location permission. AstraLoc does not request precise location solely for advertising or analytics.
Device sensor information
AstraLoc may use device sensors such as the magnetometer, accelerometer, gravity or rotation sensors, gyroscope where available, and barometric pressure sensor where available. These readings support the Compass, Level, Altimeter, Qibla, and direction features.
Raw sensor streams and precise GPS coordinates are not intentionally included in AstraLoc's general analytics or advertising-targeting logic.
Saved waypoints and app settings
If you save a waypoint or manual origin, AstraLoc stores the name and coordinates locally on your device so that you can use, edit, or delete that destination later. AstraLoc may also store local preferences such as display, unit, language, theme, and entitlement-related settings.
AstraLoc does not silently create a movement history from your location. Saved waypoint data remains under your control and is not intentionally uploaded to an AstraLoc server merely because it is saved.
Purchase and entitlement verification
AstraLoc offers a Google Play in-app purchase for Lifetime functionality. Google Play processes the financial transaction. AstraLoc does not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account details.
To verify and restore entitlement, AstraLoc may send purchase-verification information such as the app package name, product identifier, and Google Play purchase token to AstraLoc's verification service hosted using Google Cloud infrastructure. This information is used to validate and maintain your purchased entitlement and to prevent fraud or unauthorized access.
Advertising and consent information
The free version of AstraLoc uses Google AdMob / the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Depending on your device, region, settings, and consent choices, Google Mobile Ads may process information such as IP address, app and ad interactions, diagnostic information, advertising/device identifiers where permitted, and privacy-choice information required for ad delivery.
AstraLoc uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage consent where required. Ad serving is gated by the applicable consent state. AstraLoc's own application logic does not use your saved waypoint names or precise saved waypoint coordinates to target advertisements.
Contact form information
If you voluntarily use the SpokyWorks developer website contact form, you may provide your name, email address, selected app, topic, subject, and message. This information is used only to receive, investigate, and respond to your request.
The website currently uses FormSubmit to deliver contact-form messages to SpokyWorks. FormSubmit therefore processes the information you submit for message delivery. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or other highly sensitive information through the contact form.
2. Summary of data handling
| Data or access | Purpose | Typical handling |

| Foreground location | True North, altitude, Qibla, origin, bearings and distances | Processed primarily on-device; user-approved waypoint/origin coordinates may be stored locally |
| Compass, motion and pressure sensors | Compass, Level, Altimeter and directional calculations | Processed on-device; raw streams are not intentionally sent to general analytics |
| Saved waypoint names and coordinates | Saved destinations and Point-To functionality | Stored locally until you delete them, clear app data, or remove the app |
| Purchase-verification data | Verify, restore and protect Lifetime entitlement | Sent securely to AstraLoc's verification backend and Google Play services as needed |
| Advertising/device data | Ad delivery, consent, measurement, diagnostics and fraud prevention | Processed by Google Mobile Ads / AdMob according to Google policies and your consent choices |
| Contact-form data | Developer support and enquiries | Sent through FormSubmit to SpokyWorks and retained as reasonably needed to handle the request |
3. Third-party services
- Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK for advertising.
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) for privacy and consent choices.
- Google Play Billing for Lifetime purchase processing and purchase ownership.
- Google Cloud infrastructure for purchase-entitlement verification and related operational security.
- Google Play services and Android platform services for supported device functionality.
- FormSubmit for delivery of messages submitted through the SpokyWorks website contact form.
These services may process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
4. When information may be shared
AstraLoc or SpokyWorks may share or allow processing of information only as necessary for advertising/privacy-consent functionality, Google Play purchases, purchase verification, responding to contact requests, legal compliance, security, or fraud prevention. AstraLoc does not directly sell your saved waypoint information or precise location information.
5. Your choices and controls
- Location permission: You may deny or revoke location permission in Android settings.
- Saved waypoints: You may edit or delete user-created saved destinations from within AstraLoc.
- Advertising ID: Android provides controls to reset or delete the advertising ID, subject to device/Google settings.
- Ad consent: Where required, you can make or update advertising privacy choices through AstraLoc's privacy options.
- Remove Ads / Lifetime: A valid Lifetime entitlement disables AstraLoc-controlled advertising in the app.
6. Data retention and deletion
Locally stored waypoints and settings remain on your device until you delete them, clear AstraLoc's app storage, or uninstall the app, subject to Android backup or restore behavior that may apply.
Purchase-entitlement information is retained or processed for as long as reasonably necessary to verify, restore, secure, and support the Lifetime purchase. Operational server logs may be retained for a limited period for security, reliability, fraud prevention, and troubleshooting.
Contact-form messages may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support history, resolve disputes, and protect against abuse. FormSubmit may also retain submitted form data according to its own service practices.
AstraLoc currently does not require creation of an AstraLoc user account. To remove locally stored AstraLoc data, use in-app delete controls where available, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
7. Security
AstraLoc and SpokyWorks use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the data handled. Network communications used for purchase verification, Google SDK services, and the website contact form use encrypted transport where supported by the respective services.
8. International processing
Google, FormSubmit, and other infrastructure providers used by AstraLoc or the SpokyWorks website may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Their processing is governed by their applicable privacy terms, safeguards, and legal obligations.
9. European and regional privacy choices
In regions where consent is required for personalized advertising or related processing, AstraLoc uses Google's consent-management tools to request and record the applicable choice before requesting ads where required. Other regional privacy rights may apply based on where you live.
10. Children's privacy
AstraLoc is a general-purpose utility and is not designed specifically for children. AstraLoc's own features do not require a user to submit a name, email address, or account profile. The optional website contact form should be used only to request support or communicate with the developer.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when AstraLoc's features, third-party services, legal requirements, website services, or data practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised when material changes are published.
